  ALFONSO FERRAZZA

I was born in Buenos Aires Argentina on February 4 1980. I have always been interested in horror, writing, animals, painting and esoteric matters. Martial arts and the cultivation of body and mind play a very big role in my life and in my art. Oriental disciplines awoke my interest for Chinese and Japanese painting, with their depictions of warriors, raptors, dragons and battles. My fascination with the occult and my aversion for the catholic church drove me to the study of ancient cultures and religions. I think these two things are my main artistic influences. My art and my life feed each other and they are one. This is my lifestyle, not a hobby. At age 13 I decided to drop out of high school and dedicate myself to my real studies. I began reading and painting as much as possible and started training aikido on a daily basis. I took my education into my own hands and ever since I have tried to make my life as connected to the source as possible. I love the outdoors and nature, they give me great inspiration.

In 1999 I came to NY, to study under a great Japanese sensei. I fell in love with New York, and never returned to Argentina. I was allowed to live in the school as long as I trained everyday, all day. This lasted one year, eventually, I became fed up with the pragmatic life style and the need for my own private space to create my art drove me out of there. I moved to Brooklyn and began working any side job I could find while I kept on painting. I acquired mostly moving jobs, construction, landscaping, and my favorite; dog walking.  With this new found independence in New York City, I started to show my artwork in café’s, nightclubs, bars and in group exhibits. At this time, I also started to play guitar in a band and eventually formed my own. This took me across the states a few times a year, allowing me to share my art with music lovers. My art has always won an audience in the music scene.

Due to my recently conquered computer phobia, it is only now that I have my own website and have joined Surrealism Now and the Society for Art of Imagination. I keep on painting and trying to expand my art across the globe, I have only just begun.
