CARRIE-ANN BAADE
The edgy and intellectual paintings of Carrie Ann Baade are quickly gaining recognition across the United States and abroad. Dubbed “Imaginative Realism,” these paintings are cut from the pages of art history and layered into a trompe l'oeil surrealism. Often traveling around the globe in search of forgotten paintings to quote and interpret, her works manifest into an entirely original vision, rich with the confluence of cultures and time periods.
As an aspiring professor, she has held adjunct teaching positions at Washington College, the University of Delaware, Cecil County Community College, and Delaware College of Art and Design. She received her B.F.A. from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1997 and a Masters in Painting from the University of Delaware in 2003. Currently Carrie is a full time painter in Philadelphia accompanied by her singing, polydactyl cat.
