Philip is an artist, writer, philosopher, teacher and visionary. He holds undergraduate (B.S.) and graduate degrees (M.A., MFA) in the Studio Arts with complementary studies in Psychology, Philosophy and Comparative Religion. His work has been exhibited internationally in more than 90 exhibitions and his writings have been read worldwide in numerous articles and journals. He is the author of "DRINKING LIGHTNING - Art, Creativity and Transformation", and has been holding his internationally renowned painting seminars; "Old Masters-New Visions" for the last ten years. He also offers lectures and workshops on creative process, integral art and consciousness. Philip is also spear-heading the establishment of an International Cultural Arts Center, which, as an academy and museum, will serve as a United Nations of integral artists, educational programs and events that will inspire peace and tolerance. The artist's unique background included studies with the internationally renowned artist, Ernst Fuchs, at Castle Wartholz, in Vienna, Austria, 1973-1974. During this time he trained in painting and printmaking techniques of the Old Masters. This knowledge prevails beneath the unusual versatility of the artist's work. Rubinov's travels have been extensive, including India, where he studied Kashmir Shaivism and wandered naked with a band of Sadhus in 1978. He has studied the world wisdom traditions, the Martial Arts of Kodakan Judo, Aikido Sword and Boxing. Through his friendship with the renowned author and philosopher, Ken Wilber, he has cultivated further insights integral psychology and philosophy enhancing his research into the mysterious forces behind artistic inspiration and invention. He has been a strong proponent for the Fine Arts, especially in the visionary and fantastic genres', and has served on several city arts councils, and has been a recipient of a grant from the New York State Council on the Arts. In 1981 he co-founded and directed the first Institute for Contemplative Education and Visionary Art in the United States, located in upstate New York. In 1995, the professor founded and directed the new School of Extended Studies at Naropa University where he served as the Dean from 1991-1997. He continues his work as an artist, writer, philosopher and teacher. In addition to his current projects, he just completed two new books. "EYES of the SOUL - Exploring Inspiration in Art", which features 150 artists from all over the world. This monumental work explores the sources of inspiration and creative process behind the lives and works of artists working in numerous styles of expression. A foreword by Ken Wilber and essays by esteemed writers, scholars and philosophers enhances this forthcoming book. Aside from contributing to numerous periodicals, magazines and internet-forums, Rubinov most recent book; ‘PROMETHEAN FLAMES - Rekindling and Re-Visioning the Creative Fire”, offere a deep exploration into the mysterious forces at work in the life and lives of creative and religious mystics. A new 2nd Edition of "DRINKING LIGHTNING - Art, Creativity and Transformation", was recently published by MARJA Publications and is available on-line. The artist has participated in more than one hundred exhibitions -internationally and his work is represented in Galerie 10 in Vienna, Austria, galleries in the USA, Nederland, Germany and through his agent at The Dream Masters (on-line) in the USA. He continues to paint, write and teach and is currently undergoing discussions for the aforementioned Cultural Integral Arts Center in Bavaria, Germany.
